back in focus

We are in and settled. The move is done, tv and internet finally set up and we can breathe again. YEAH! We moved May 2nd and then May 9th I ran my first race. I love running and have always wanted to run a race, but have always found excuses not to enter. So when my friend Kathy asked me if I wanted to run an 8K with her I decided it was time to ditch the excuses and go for it. I had plenty of excuses with the move, and life in general, but I pushed through and we kicked butt. Not only did we kick butt we ended up pushing our kids in the race. What a way to celebrate Mother's Day.

Me, post race ...

From May.09
The race was in Yarmouth, MA, so we used it as a great excuse to spend the weekend in the Cape. Here are a few pix of the girls.

We took most of the pix with Kathy's camera so I will post more when I get them from her.

To catch up, in April our teens held an event to raise money for the 30 hour famine. The kids starved for 30 hours and slept outside in boxes. It was a fun weekend and we raised over $3100.

And lastly, we have a few addition to our family. A kitty named Bella. Hailey of course loves her, maybe a little to much as she is quite smothered, but thankfully the kitty takes it well.

And yes, she is a little "big" to be a kitty. She was given to us from a family friend and is approx 8 months old.

Hopefully now that we are all set up I can update on a more regular basis.

crazy weekend!

From Apr.09

We've been so busy moving we haven't had any fun so we took this past weekend and had some fun. On Friday we took Hailey to the Southwick Zoo. It was a 2 hour drive, but worth the trip. One thing I noticed is how "scheduled" Hailey is ... She kept telling me how things were going to go. "Mommy, we will see the monkeys, ride the train, feed the Bambi's and then go home, ok?" And she kept drilling the schedule. Did I teach her this?! I am not sure if its a good trait or not for a 3 year old?!

On Sunday we celebrated Alyssa's 5th birthday. I still can't believe she is 5! It was held at BounceU. The kids had a blast! Hailey was scared at first and was crying, but after seeing everyone else have fun she loosened up and joined it.

Easter 2009

We spent Easter with my parents and had a fun filled day. My dad took pictures for families at our church, these are the ones took of us. I can't believe how big Hailey looks in these pictures!

Hailey has been wanting to know everyones names lately, people she meets, characters in books etc ... and she will let you know her name, "Hailey Chalifour". Not Hailey, but Hailey Chalifour. Her choice of names though is the funny part.
Her baby, Rubella ... yes, like measles, mumps and rubella. Where she got it, I don't know. Her imaginary friend, Genty or Jenty (guess I don't know how to spell it :-) Again, where did she come up with that one? And yes, she has an imaginary friend. Today she was playing Barbie, but not with Barbie's, she is the Barbie and she had a birthday party for Jenty. She gave Jenty a cake and everything. Later in the car I asked her where Jenty was and she said she was sleeping in the car beside her. SHHH ....

catching up

So I have been slacking, but we are in the midst of moving, and just a crazy schedule in general so forgive me :-)

I don't want to forget to mention that Tim turned 30 on March 25th. We have been together since I was 15 and he was 17! Its hard to believe he turned 30. I had a party planned, but a friend of mine died suddenly and her funeral was scheduled the same day as his party so needless to say it was cancelled. My soon to be sister-in-law, the great cake maker had a beautiful cake planned so I asked her to go forward and make it and we gave it to him. As you can see below she did a great job and it was just as yummy as it looks!

From Mar.09

On Sunday we painted easter eggs in prep for this coming weekend, but Hailey couldn't get over the fact that she wanted to eat them. It was a quite funny! Actually, her appetite has picked up as of lately so I think she may be growing. Anyway, she didn't quite get into it the egg painting as I thought she would so I gave her incentive telling her that we needed to paint them and leave them for the easter bunny so that he would bring her a basket, she then proceeded to tell me that we could just take them to the mall, give them to bunny and get her basket now!

From Apr.09

Today I was diagnosed with strep, the 5th time in a year (thats another story!), so we had a low key evening at home. We decided to crafty and play with one of Hailey's favorite new things - glue! She started making pictures of people she knew and I just had to share.

Below are portraits of Auntie Laura and Uncle Matt ...

And just so you know where she gets her great talent from, here are my portraits, of Tim, Hailey and I. I know you are jealous :-)

From Apr.09

After asking me to take pictures of the portraits she asked me to take some shots of her. I thought her faces were so funny I had to post them.

From Feb.09
Last weekend we took a group and went sledding. Hailey had a blast and even went down the hill by herself a few times as you can see in the pix above.
From Feb.09
One of the guys who came with us brought his ice fishing boat and we used this as a sled. Can you say FAST?

This weekend Jordyn turned 8! Unbelievable! Happy Birthday Jordyn!
From Mar.09

From Mar.09
Jordyn had her party at Build A Bear and Hailey made a puppy which she named Daisy. She loves her as you can see.
From Mar.09
While at the party Hailey decided she was tired and then she proceeded to throw up on Alyssa. I felt horrible! Needless to say we headed home and the rest of the evening and today looked like this ...

Thankfully she is now feeling better so lets hope the rest of us stay that way!

valentines day

From Feb.09

Meme had a "wild" valentines party Saturday night for the kids. Above Hailey is making heart shaped brownies for the party. They were a hit. You can see below the kids were wild dancing to Hannah Montana and sugared up. Meme even had a table in the "kids" room with chips, cheese doodles and other snacks.

From Feb.09

As the night wore on they tired out ....

And eventually were almost passed out which meant time to go home!

bathroom play and PT update

Lately, Hailey has taken to playing in the bathroom. Why, I do not know, but here is her party on the bathroom rug in front of the tub.
From Feb.09
When I came in to check on her she was sitting up on the little table in the bathroom. She looked so cute I couldn't resist taking a couple pix.
From Feb.09

From Feb.09
Later, she decided to have snack time. Notice her "friends" sharing snack with her. Her dog is sitting in her chair and she other animals around the table. Of course they need real crackers as well.
From Feb.09

Hailey is still in PT and doing great! We actually will now be going every other week. What we have been working on is loosening up her upper leg and strengthening other areas, such has her abs and calf muscles. She has been doing great and she now sits crossed legged. Skills we have been working on are climbing stairs without crawling or tripping, jumping with both feet and landing on her feet and standing on one foot. She is improving in all areas. It is amazing what a little push in the right direction can do.

A funny side note, she is given exercises to do at home, but of course she does not like to do her exercises for mom so what does a mother do, use mind games :-) ha, ha

She, like most kids does not like bedtime and will do anything to get out of going to bed so I schedule bedtime with a little wiggle room because every night just as I am putting her to bed she decides it is a great time to do her exercises and she does a great job because she is so excited to be getting out of bedtime. Its quite funny, but works wonders!
