first haircut

Hailey had her first haircut tonight. We took her to a cute kids cut place called Snip Its. She was scared to her haircut at first, but I think the kids atmosphere helped and she did great! After they cut the hair they put it in pigtails so I haven't really seen the finished product. When I go to take the pigtails out to see her hair she cries, "mommy, don't take my haircut out!" So I guess I will have to wait until tomorrow to see the finished product!

Its hard to catch "action" pictures, but I thought the one below of her dancing was cute!

I guess all that dancing really tired her out :-)

first real "boo-boo"

Yesterday we spent the day at the beach. Yes, you are right, it was a little cool for an actual beach day, but we brought a picnic lunch and ate at a nice picnic area and then walked a nice walkway along the beach. Why oh why can't daddy have every weekend off?! It was fun and relaxing. Hailey even let us sleep till 9am yesterday morning and 8:30am this morning! That is unheard of around this household.

Today around 12:30p Hailey told me she wanted a nap. I highly doubted she would take one since it was still early, but she asked so I figured I would give it a try. After about ten minutes I hear a knock on the bedroom door so I opened it and low and behold this is what popped out ...

Needless to say she didn't take a nap ....

Later we decided to go outside and kick a ball around. Hailey ran a little to fast and fell on the pavement for her first real "boo-boo" or as she calls it a "bloody". "Mommy, I need a boo-boo (bandaid) for my bloody (boo-boo)". Someone teach this kid how to talk!? LOL

She was a real trooper and hardly shed a tear. In the pix above she is trying to look serious as she poses for the camera. By this time she was quite alright.

Lately she has been quite a riot with what she comes out with. Today at lunch she told daddy "daddy, don't talk to me like that". She also has learned "I can 't and I can". So when you ask her a question such as "Hailey do you want to go outside?" She either responds, "I can't go outside or I can go outside." Depending on her mood :-)

"Hailey, do you want to go to bed?"
"I can't go to bed" ha, ha ... to bad it doesn't work that way!

hectic

Princess Hailey
Hanging out with cousins - notice her chewing her tongue?!
As you can probably tell from my lack of updates life has been HECTIC. I am starting a new position at work and keeping up with what needs to be done, while learning my new position and training my replacement is a little overwhelming. Thankfully, this weekend we are able to have some quality family time so we are taking advantage of it.

Today we went to the flume and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves!

In the lobby before you enter the flume there is a HUGE stuffed moose. This started a new obsession with moose, so on the way out we told her she could pick one out to buy. She picked this cute backpack moose, got to love it!

To end, I have a cute story to share. This morning we were on our way to the flume and everyone is pretty quiet in the car when Hailey pipes up that she wants a doggy.
I respond, you do?
Hailey: yeah, I want a doggy so I can ride him to the park!
Where did she get that from?!

On Sunday, Hailey's "sister" Ashleigh came and spent the day with us. Hailey and her were cuddling watching - guess what? Cinderella!

Hailey's guitar debut!

Take time to smell the "weeds" I mean flowers! Hailey is so excited to be able to pick dandelions :-)

Getting comfortable during a walk this afternoon. I was laughing at her putting her feet up!

princesses

Hailey has had quite a week, but the main event - my cousin Laura got married and to put it mildly Hailey was in awe! She has been obsessed with princesses as we all know and she was convinced Laura and her bridesmaids were real live princesses. She didn't even know some of the bridesmaids and yet she followed them around, hugged them, sat with them - she wouldn't leave them alone!

Hailey and my cousins daughter Kaylee ... they are two peas in a pod!

Hailey and her GG!
Hailey dancing with "her" princess - when her turn was over she cried hysterically!

All in all we had a great time at the wedding - CONGRATULATIONS Tim and Laura! Now my cousin Laura, my cousin Tina and I are all married to Tim's, how funny is that?!

Then earlier this week Hailey's friend Sidney and her mommy came up from Massachusetts to visit. As always we had a great time together.

Elijah also stopped by and they decided to pull out the playdoh.
On Friday while traveling up for my cousins wedding we stopped at the Maine Wildlife Park. It was nice and Hailey had a blast though she was a little disturbed that she couldn't hug and ride on the animals!

After the park we headed to our hotel which had a pool. As you can see from the pix below Hailey was a little scared of the whole pool idea, but after getting in we had trouble getting her out.
On another note, I am not sure if I have ever posted Hailey's skin issues ... off and on she gets these little red dots on her face. We took her the doctor and he had no idea what it was from so he just prescribed hydrocortisone cream. It takes care of them when they pop up, but we never got down to why they happen. Well, in the last two weeks I haven't had to use the cream, but never second guessed why. Then Thursday night we went to get a new kitty. While picking which one we wanted we were in a room with kitty's for about an hour then we left to get dinner and we were going to go back and finish the adoption. Well, at dinner I noticed Hailey's excema was worse then ever. You can see in the picture below (and that was taken 2 days after the reaction with benadryl and steroid cream). So we came to the conclusion that the rashes are an allergy to cats! The reason I believe it never was that bad at home was because Zoe never really let Hailey get close enough to her to cause a big reaction. Needless to say we are not the proud owners of a new kitty!

And lastly this is Hailey this morning. She took her princess skirt and put it up over her shoulder and danced to music!

Gunstock

Yesterday we went to hike Mt. Major, little did we know it was on fire and closed off. You can see the article and some videos here. The cool thing, was as you round the corner you have the mountain on one side and the lake on the other. Just as we rounded the bend (the road had not been closed off yet) a helicopter was coming out of the water with a big bucket of water to dump on the fire. We were so close it was quite a neat experience.

After we realized we weren't going to be hiking that mountain we headed to Gunstock. We got a map and headed up to the summit. We weren't ready for how steep it really was. You can see in the picture below the mountain we climbed. Once on top we headed around on an actual hiking trail to another adjacent mountain and that is where we took this picture. This was on our descent down the other side. As you can see we traveled far! The whole trip took about 3 hours.

Not only was it high, but we were hiking in SNOW and it was 65 degrees outside! The snow added quite a twist to the hike.

I can't say enough about how wonderful Hailey does, she uses her imagination and tells us that she "lives in the trees" (ha, ha). We also let her hike some of it and she takes a rock home from each hike to paint. We have yet to paint though :-) This hike was our greatest and hardest yet, but boy was it beautiful!
